The Challenge
In an uncertain market, cautious optimism only holds up with the right tools in place. National Electronic Transit had been running final-mile delivery for specialized-handling clients since the 1960s, and had grown into a fleet of more than 50 trucks and 250,000 square feet of warehouse space along the way. That growth exposed a gap: drivers, office staff, and consignees were often working from different pictures of the same delivery, which meant constant back-and-forth just to answer what had happened and when. N.E.T. didn’t want to be one of the carriers left behind by technology providers too slow to adapt, so they went looking for a platform that could close that gap.
The Solution
National Electronic Transit chose Fleet Enable as its partner for capturing and communicating the information that used to get lost between drivers, dispatch, and the office. Fleet Enable gave N.E.T. a single view of the entire delivery process, from pickup through invoicing, in place of three separate, disconnected pictures.
That single view did two things at once. It cut down the redundant back-and-forth between office staff and consignees, since a customer checking on a delivery no longer needed to interrupt a driver or dispatcher to get an answer. And it gave N.E.T.’s team a clear read on what had been completed and what was still outstanding on any given delivery, which took a lot of the guesswork out of resolving claims.
The Outcome
With less time spent chasing information across teams, the change showed up directly in billing. Invoice processing time dropped 50%. Back-and-forth communication with clients has gone down, since consignees can see delivery status themselves. And the order process itself got shorter end to end, from the moment an order comes in to the moment it’s invoiced.
“I know that when developing new features, Fleet Enable keeps customer feedback in mind. The competition becomes stagnant when they don’t take these chances or look for areas to improve.” — Joe Holl, President, National Electronic Transit
N.E.T.’s partnership with Fleet Enable has been a two-way street: it’s contributed to N.E.T.’s growth, and N.E.T.’s feedback has shaped the direction of Fleet Enable’s final-mile management system.
